Muline, which is, without exaggeration, a piece of heaven on earth. Namely, in Muline there is the most important archaeological site on the island of Ugljan from the 1st century with the remains of a large ancient oil mill where the famous Liburnian oil was produced. The area of the Adriatic coast was then called Liburnia, and the inhabitants of Liburni, hence the name Liburnian oil, which was so famous that even in the book "On cooking" by the Roman writer Apicius, there is a recipe for how to get that flavor from ordinary Spanish oil by adding oats, oat, laurel and salt. There is an economic complex on that site, which also consists of a mausoleum, a small memorial church and an early Christian basilica dedicated to Saint John. By the way, that oil mill was one of the strongest in the Mediterranean, and it had as many as 5 oil presses, making it the largest oil mill in the Adriatic that has been explored so far. It is interesting that it has been preserved to such a level that even today, with a certain investment, it could be put into operation and produce original Liburnian oil. Luka is a settlement in the central part of Dugi otok, located under the island's largest hill, Vela Straža. The nearest place is Žman (from the southeast) and Savar (from the northwest).
It was first mentioned in 1365 as Vallis Sancti Stephani. The place is characterized by attractive promenades and natural beaches. Tourism is developed, and thanks to the safe bays, it is often the anchorage for yachts and ships. Bok bay with medicinal mud is also nearby. About 100 inhabitants live in the village in winter, while this number increases many times over in summer. The traditional festival is held on August 2-3 every year.
